German Shepherd

Dogs

My first memory of a German Shepherd Dog is from early childhood. I remember being able to go just about anyplace I wanted to on our isolated farm because of Buster. He was a beautiful, mostly black, German Shepherd Dog. We would explore to our hearts content--always with my hand on his back as we walked along.

My mother tells of the times he would step in front of me blocking my way while frantically barking to get her attention so she would come and kill the rattlesnake that was in our path. I remember one of those times vividly.

As too often happens, we lost this wonderful dog. One morning I awakened ready to go for our daily walk and he was nowhere to be found. We never found him and I never forgot him.

Over the years, I bought several German Shepherd Dogs, only to be bitterly disappointed. Most people thought I had built Buster up too much in my mind, but I knew I hadn't and vowed to search until I found another one just like him.

Then, eight years ago, in Bakersfield California, I spotted a beautiful German Shepherd Dog in a truck and asked the owner where he got him. I was put in contact with Richard Sottile of Tehachapi, CA, who I was told "knew all there was to know about German Shepherd Dogs." He has freely taught me so much about them in the past eight years.

I purchased my first German Shepherd Dog from him that very day. Her name is Bachachers Rusty Nail. I renamed her FANCY because all these years I had been searching for my fancy and she was it. Dr. Sottile helped me establish Adobe Kennels and taught me that genetics plays a very important part but that also the way a puppy is treated from birth determines what kind of an adult dog it will be. They have to be shown that they are wonderful, smart, beautiful and treasured. Just as "people babies" need this interaction, so do "canine babies." There are no words to express what wonderful, intelligent dogs this makes.

At long last I have found dogs like my wonderful childhood "Buster." Dogs like this don't just happen. It takes a lot of hard work and a lot of time--but most importantly a lot of love and dedication. These are the kind of dogs we offer to you.
